Region
From Republik of War
Regions[edit | edit source]
Regions are the fundamental territorial units on the map of Republik of War. They represent areas of land that countries can own, defend, and utilize for economic and strategic benefit.
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
- Map Location: Each region occupies a distinct area on the global map and belongs to a specific country.
- Unique Identifier: Every region has a unique name (e.g., 'Eastern Germany', 'Ontario').
- Owner: A region is controlled by a country. This ownership can change through warfare.
- Original Owner: Each region also has an 'original owner', which is typically the country it belonged to at the game's inception or reset. This is significant for mechanics like [[[#resistance-war|Resistance War]]].
- Capital Status: One region within each country is designated as its Capital. This often holds special significance, particularly for resistance mechanics.
- Geography: Regions are connected to adjacent regions via borders. These connections determine legal travel paths and potential targets for invasion.
Key Features[edit | edit source]
Resources[edit | edit source]
- Primary Function: Each region produces a specific natural resource daily: Food, Weapon, or House.
- Resource Level: The amount produced depends on the region's resource level (e.g., Food 1/3). Levels can be increased (often through Research Race) or decreased (if the region gets conquered).
- Strategic Value: Regions with high-level or valuable resources (especially Weapons) are highly prized and heavily defended.
Infrastructure[edit | edit source]
- Companies: Players can establish companies within regions they control. These companies use the region's raw resources to manufacture goods.
- Constructions: Special buildings like Defense Systems or Iron Domes can be constructed in regions to provide military advantages.
Interactions[edit | edit source]
Travel[edit | edit source]
- Citizens can travel between regions, typically restricted to their own country or allied/connected territories, depending on game settings.
Warfare[edit | edit source]
- Battles: The primary way regions change hands. One country initiates a battle to invade and conquer a region belonging to another country.
- Defense: The owning country defends its region in the battle.
- Outcome: If the invading country wins the battle, they seize control of the region.
Resistance War[edit | edit source]
- A special type of persistent war that occurs in the capital region of a player's original country if it is currently occupied by a foreign power.
Importance[edit | edit source]
- Territory: Regions represent a country's physical territory and sphere of influence.
- Economy: They are the source of raw materials (Food, Weapons, Houses) essential for the national economy via the company system.
- Military Strategy: Controlling regions provides strategic depth, access to resources, and staging grounds for further conflicts.
- National Pride: Possessing regions, especially one's original homeland, is a matter of national pride and identity.
Understanding regions, their connections, resources, and how to acquire or defend them is crucial for any player involved in the larger geopolitical landscape of Republik of War.
